M/C Galapagos Seaman Journey Day Tours

Galapagos Journey day tours

The M/C Galapagos Seaman Journey also offers the option of pre or post tours to complement its Galapagos Islands unique experience.  For example, the Galapagos Seaman Journey is currently offering day tours to the highlands of Santa Cruz and San Cristobal so passengers can experience Galapagos’ natural treasures in areas away from the classical costal trails.  Every corner of the archipelago is unique so this is a great opportunity to enjoy yet another exceptional ecosystem.

Highlands, Santa Cruz Island

Your driver guide will pick you up in the morning from the dock in Puerto Ayora or Baltra and will drive you up to the highland region.  The trail to the highlands leaves from Bellavista and passes through the agricultural zone, near the National Park boundary, the Miconia Zone, and then goes to the Fern and Sedge zone.  With clear weather (unpredictable) this area affords beautiful scenes of rolling hills and extinct volcanic cones covered with grass and lush greenery all year round.  Later, discover millenary caves amongst virgin forest while hiking some of the most pristine forested areas found anywhere in the world.  Enjoy a private picnic style lunch and return to the harbor in the late afternoon.

Highlands, San Cristobal Island

Driven by your expert bilingual driver guide, visit to Cerro Colorado Tortoises Protection and Growing Center, located at 40 minutes approximately by bus to the south east of the island.  This center was built to improve the status of the population of the island tortoises. The center includes a large corral, a Visitors center, breeding center and an interpretative trail.  Along this trail it is possible to see different species of native and endemic plants as well birds as the San Cristobal Mockingbird, Yellow Warblers, and many species of finches and the Galapagos flycatcher. Then we will continue to Puerto Chino beach and enjoy the view at El Mirador where a private picnic style lunch will greet us until we return to the main harbor in the late afternoon.

These day tours are the ideal addition to a M/C Galapagos Seaman Journey cruise experience.  Note though that you do not have to be booked onboard the cruise to take this tour.  We will gladly pick you up from your hotel or airport.  For more information and enquiries about this tour please emai: sales2@latintrails.com
